Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin'

Blooms open pure white, then turn a rich pink, so that many shades are present at once on the shrub. Foliage turns from dark green to rich red-mahogany. The bloomwands are very large and heavy, yet they point up and out even after a good summer storm. More petals stay on the inflorescences so the shrub always looks unruffled. The peeling brown bark keeps it interesting even in winter.
